About the Founder

Shivansi Barat

My name is Shivansi Barat, and I am the founder of Paws & Purpose. I am a rising senior with a lifelong passion for animals and a strong desire to help others. After years of asking for a dog, my family and I finally welcomed Honey, a sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, into our home. As first-time dog owners, we found ourselves diving into hours of research to ensure we were giving Honey the best care possible. During that process, we realized how difficult it was to find a single, reliable, and up-to-date resource for responsible pet ownership. That experience inspired me to create Paws & Purpose, a platform designed to support both new and experienced dog parents with practical guidance, helpful tips, and trusted information. Whether you're welcoming your first puppy or looking to deepen your bond with your long-time companion, Paws & Purpose is here to help. In addition to running this platform, I volunteer at a local humane shelter, where I’ve received training in dog behavior, health, and care. This hands-on experience has helped me become a more informed and compassionate pet owner, and I am incredibly excited to share what I’ve learned, and beyond, with you.
